I just won this amazing model on
ebay MALEKITH ON FOOT and I am now at a cross roads as to what to do with it. Do I paint it or keep it in mint condition as a collectors item.
According to Citadel
Miniatures this mini is unreleased and rather hard to come by - see
herePart of me just says what the heck - enjoy the experience and slap some paint on it. Any comments would be most welcome.

With your painting skills I would paint it. For me, a well painted miniature keeps it´s value even if it is a "collectors item".
Long time ago I won "Malekith on Dragon" from a painting competition... The box was unopened for a long time until recently I decided to open it and put it to use... and didn´t regret it :)
Anyways... my point being: "Just do it"
Thanks Alexander Man, I have been thinking the same thing. Will have to work up the courage to put some paint on it soon.
I would say do it as well. The thing about minis is that they exist to be painted. Sure its cool to own an limited edition version and keep it all perfect and such, but, I'd rather see them painted up. Even if it is just for a 'showcase' of the mini itself.
Also....
Hey there. It seems like you have a great Fantasy based blog here. I am the admin of a blog that aims to group the Fantasy blogs on the net together, making it easy for others to find people with similar tastes.
You can find the blogs URL here: http://the-tradingpost.blogspot.com/
I am hoping that you might consider doing a brief interview for the blog. If you look for 'Trader of the Week' on there, you'll see the format. If you would like to take part, please send me an email (on the blog).
Thanks a lot.
Hello Kuffeh,
thanks for the comment on my blog! You have quite a good blog going yourself.
I was very lucky to get a copy of that mini - the response from the gaming/painting community has been very positive towards painting it. And has given me the confidence to put some paint on it - I hope I can do it justice.
I'd be happy to do a brief interview - and feel free to post any info from my blog.
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you like it.
Yeah, does seems quite rare. I have a number of limited edition minis to paint myself (Archaon on foot, Valten MKIII on foot, Harry the Hammer, White Dwarf on Shieldbearers are the ones I know off hand). I plan to get around to painting them at some point.
Great. if you send me an email at thetradingpostblog@googlemail.com then I'll send you the questions. Thanks.
Dude Paint it... I will be worth more with one of your paint jobs.
If I saw this character on your table I would just think you have simply got the original character, cut him in half, and found some legs for him. Simple conversion. For that reason I'd leave him mint, if you want to have this character in your army, make your own converted model (you could probably make him look waaay more awesome waist down too!).
Paint it! The model can always be stripped again in minutes.
Wow nice how much did you won it for?
I say paint it :)
Throwing caution and balance into the wind, a Mechanized army is generally one that fields no foot troops - every unit has its relative means of transport, allowing an army to be entirely mobile every turn of the game. The means to achieve this end are varied, and some of the Warhammer 40k armies are unable to run such a list.
