Cult of Khaine Warhammer Army Blog

This blog is dedicated to my Dark Elf Warhammer army - The Cult of Khaine.

I have been collecting and painting models for the past couple of years in particular the games workshop warhammer dark elves. These are my favourite minatures out of their range and over the time I have amassed a rather large army. I thought it would be a good idea to blog my development of the army as It evolves to keep a record of my ideas and to showcase the models when I finish them. I will be posting various images, comments and links as I go and would love to hear any comments you have.

High Elf Dragon Prince and Elven Waystone

This blog is going to crash I have not posted anything on it in absolute ages and in one day hammered it with more posts than I think I did last year :-)  This was a good distraction from painting Dark Elves for a while.

Citadel Woods

I got two kits on eBay and put this together, plus a couple of extras that I did'nt photograph. It was pretty straight forward, lots of dry brushing. I want to be able to have a dead woods so I magnetized the trees and foliage to give me the options of including the leaves of not. It worked out quite well.

Warhammer Temple of Blood

I had a bit of fun converting this up from the arcane ruins set from Games Workshop. Getting the water effects looking deep was a bit of a challenge, plenty of drying time.

Dark Elves Crossbow Unit

I have quite a few of these put together now (about 6 units of 10) 3 of them are painted but just realised I had not taken any photos of them. I think it was a nice touch to string the bows. And I really like how the champion came out using a mix of bits from the Cold One Riders sprue.

Dark Elf Sorceress on Dark Steed

Another quick conversion with some bits I had left over. Quite happy with the way it came out.

Release the Kraken!

This was a painting pleasure. It was a bit fiddly to put together, there was a lot of pinning for the tentacles and getting it to sit on the base. I also had a chance to play with water effect on the base which was a bit of fun. The two Beastmasters came together well, I used the standard sections of the corsair sprue. Was thinking of fielding it as a Hydra proxy perhaps in a friendly game.

Dark Elves Black Guard

Well it was a bit of a marathon but I have finally finished my 30 Black Guard. I have done 2 units, one of 20 and the other of 10. I have kept these very dark an used fairly minimal colour scheme on them, mostly black, grey and metal so that they live up to their name. I only used gold on the command group. Now on to the next project 30 Executioners.
